Phyllis C. Anderson

Phyllis C. Anderson 89, of Naples, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her residence at Arbor Trace. Phyllis was born May 22, 1927 in Miami, Florida, the only daughter of the late Henry and Jessie (neé Tompkins) Keitel. She had been a resident of Naples since 1975 coming from Bridgewater, NJ. She met her husband, Charles M. Anderson, in Atlanta, Georgia while he was attending Georgia Tech University and they were married on September 10, 1947. This year would have marked their 70th year of marriage. She was an avid golfer and loved to travel the world. She was a former member of The Old Collier Golf Club, Imperial Golf Club and Audubon Country Club. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Bonita Springs. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Charles M. Anderson, of Naples, FL, four daughters, Denise Remes and her husband, Richard of Hillsborough, NC, Deborah L. Anderson of Bonita Springs, FL, Shelley D. Anderson of Bonita Springs, FL and Laura A. Opteyndt and her husband, Jim of Bonita Springs, FL; one son, Charles M. Anderson and his wife, Jill, of New Hope, PA; one brother, Paul G. Cutright and his wife, Lane, of Asheville, NC; 12 grandchildren, Rachel Remes, Alex Remes, Laura Hamilton, Matt Anderson, Sarah Thompson, Katelin Martini, Hunter Thompson, Amy Opteyndt, John-Paul Opteyndt, Ariel Anderson, Cole Anderson and Lexi Anderson and 2 great grandchildren, Jake Thompson and Clark Hamilton. Phyllis was the quintessential Mom. She cooked breakfast every morning of her 5 children's school years, she was waiting at the door every day when they arrived home, and everyone ate dinner together. Many school friends considered the Anderson house their second home and everyone was always welcome. She loved to laugh and she loved when the family was all together. She loved babies and when the grandchildren started coming along she was just thrilled. They all have many good memories of their times visiting Naples as well as their home for many years in Banner Elk, North Carolina. She was funny, kind, loving, and patient and she will be missed forever. The family would like to thank all the caregivers from Able Healthcare Services for the loving and devoted care they provided to their wife/mother/grandmother these last few years. A Celebration of Life is being planned for later this year and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Hope Lutheran Church in Bonita Springs, FL Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home.
