Robert W. Kerr

Robert W. Kerr (80) peacefully passed away on October 10, 2022. Born November 16, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended St. Daniel the Prophet Elementary School and graduated from Kelly High School in 1959. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from DePaul University. Bob worked for GTE (now Verizon) for over 27 years, eventually managing a software development group. In 1987 Bob opted to take early retirement at the age of 46 and followed a passion for working with low-voltage electronics. He founded Smart Tek Systems, working throughout Naperville and other western suburbs in Illinois, retiring in 2006. For many years Bob and his wife, Elaine, resided in the Naperville/Aurora, Illinois area and Southwest Florida. He enjoyed hosting his family at his Estero, Florida, home during the winter months, allowing them the opportunity to escape the Illinois winters. Bob was a true family man, and his love for them was apparent to all who knew him. Bob met Elaine in high school and they were married in 1962. They enjoyed years of travel both internationally and domestically and he was always looking forward to his next vacation. He was a perfectionist and did everything in life with 100% dedication. He had a love of cars and owned many different makes and models throughout the years. Preceded in death by his father, Walter Kerchowski. Survived by his mother, Anne Kerchowski; his loving wife of 60 years, Elaine (Kozlowski) Kerr; daughters, Karyn Elsbury (Edward) and Michele Fill (Douglas); grandchildren, Michael Fill, Madeline Fill, Brittany Elsbury, and Amelia Elsbury; and many in-laws who were like brothers and sisters to him. Robert W. Kerr, you will be missed and in our hearts forever. A memorial visitation will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 13060 Palomino Lane, Ft. Myers, FL, with a funeral mass immediately following at 11:30 AM.
