Rolf A. Mezger Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rolf A. Mezger of Bonita Springs, Florida, beloved husband, son, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2022 at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice in his 95th year of life. Rolf was born on June 21, 1926 in Germany to Julius and Marie Mezger and came to the United States with his parents as an infant. After leaving high school, Rolf was drafted into the United States Navy and proudly served our country during World War II. He held various diverse jobs during his early adulthood, ultimately retiring from Aetna Life Insurance Company of the Toledo, Ohio area. Rolf relocated to Bonita Springs upon his retirement. Rolf enjoyed boating, golf, reading novels, crossword puzzles and most anything that involved being on the water. He possessed a "Mr. Fix-It" knack, gifting him the ability to refurbish, rebuild, repair, rehab most anything any everything. Rolf was additionally very proud and honored to serve as Commodore of the Ottawa River Yacht Club during his years in Toledo, Ohio. Locally, he was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles, also holding a membership with the Shriners and the Masons. Above all, he loved and enjoyed his family and friends. Rolf possessed a flair to lighten the mood and atmosphere of any room, telling jokes to everyone he met along the way (his memory and recall having never failed him). Rolf is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Beverly; his daughters, Dawn (Doug) Thompson, Dawn Allen and Toni Robertson; his son, Mark (Renae) Mezger; grandsons, Andrew (Angie) Thompson and Chad (Sarah) Thompson; and great-granddaughter, Lilyanna Thompson. He was predeceased in death by his parents and a son, Michael Mezger. Burial will take place at a later date in Ohio. The family wishes to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff at the American House and Joanne's House for the compassionate care provided to Rolf over the last months, days and hours of his death.
