January 25, 1947 - January 27, 2021
Ronald Maurice Dery passed away peacefully in his sleep at Hope Hospice in Fort Meyers, FL on January 27, 2021. He was 74 years old. After graduating from Ellis Tech and Hartford State Technical College, Ron went on to work for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation for almost 40 years. As a Project Engineer, he was involved with numerous vertical construction jobs, communications projects and roadway and bridge construction throughout the State of Connecticut. Even after retiring to Bonita Springs, FL he continued to contribute his vast engineering knowledge while serving on the Board of the Fairwinds Home Owners Association. Everyone that knew Ron will miss his professionalism, his positive attitude, his warm smile and his willingness to help everyone in a special, caring manner. Ron gave unconditional love to his wife Mary as she struggled with many issues over the last many years. As her primary caregiver, Ron commendably dedicated much of his time and energy into making her life as easy as possible. Ron was a longtime member of St Mary’s Church in Putnam, CT and after retiring to FL, a member of St Leo Catholic Church in Bonita Springs. He is survived by his sister Adele Dery LaPrey and her husband Gerard of Dayville CT, his two grandchildren Nathan Hoagland and Caitlin Hoagland of Manchester CT and his son-in-law James Hoagland. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Mary Turenne Dery and his two daughters Kelly Dery and Lisa (Dery) Hoagland. Due to the current world events, a private family service will be planned for a future time. Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home in Bonita Springs has charge of final arrangements.
