Sandra "Sandy" Eloise Newman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Sandra “Sandy” Newman of Bonita Springs, FL died on June 12, 2022. She was born to Ross and Martha Harris in 1943. She grew up in Moravia, NY, received her undergrad from Heidelberg and Masters of Library Science from Case Western in 1968. Sandy was the beloved wife to Robert “Bob” Newman for 53 years and together they raised two kids, Eric of Powell, OH and Heather of Champlin, MN. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughters, Lindsey and Nora; daughter-in-law, Kristen; and son-in-law, Joe. For the last 10 years she was a snowbird, flying between Strongsville, OH and Bonita Springs. Sandy was an educator and librarian. She brought her love of books to family and friends through gifts and book clubs. She enjoyed traveling, golf and spending time with friends in all sorts of activities from bridge to water aerobics. Her volunteer work included the SWG Hospital, the Cleveland Playhouse, Second Mile Shop and various libraries. Sandy will be remembered for giving back to her community and expanding students’ minds through books and information. Her friends and family will always treasure memories of her kind heart, intelligence and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Church, Olmsted Falls, OH or Second Mile Outreach. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at a later date.
