Thomas M. McDonald

November 2, 1932 - May 11, 2022

Thomas M. McDonald of Bonita Springs passed away peacefully on May 11, 2022 in his home with his wife at his side. Born November 2, 1932, in Rockford, Illinois the son of Patrick McDonald and Faye Murphy McDonald. He served in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps in the Korean War as a counterintelligence analyst at NATO headquarters in France. A graduate of the University of Illinois and a CPA, he spent his entire business career with the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse, serving the firm in several offices in the U.S. and Latin America. He retired from the firm as a partner on the firm’s policy board. After retirement, he volunteered for the U.S. State Department Executive Service Corps working in the Czech Republic and Poland. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ellen Cain McDonald, and seven children: Alicia (William) Drabik of Wheaton, IL, T. Michael (Maga) McDonald Jr. of San Juan, P.R., Anne (Scott) Hammond of Chicago, IL, Grace (Richard) Carroll of Norfolk, VA, John McDonald of Houston, TX, Katharine (Donald) Sacco of Brightwaters, NY, and Monica (Chris) Banks of Northport, NY; eighteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home the morning on May 21, 2022 from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Leo the Great Catholic. Attendees are invited to a lunch in Tom’s honor following mass. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ellen McDonald Endowed Pediatric Nursing Scholarship Fund at Lee Health Foundation, PO Box 2218, Fort Myers, FL 33902.
