Virginia H. "Ginny" Sutherland

Virginia Hedwig “Ginny” Sutherland, 86, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away peacefully Friday, December 4, 2020 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice. Formerly of Lake Orion, MI she had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 1992. Ginny was born April 10, 1934 in Sault Sainte Marie, MI the daughter of the late Francis and Hilma (Maki) Mitchell. She graduated from Sisters of Mercy Nursing College in 1960. In Michigan, her career as an LPN was spent working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Pontiac General Hospital and for Oakland County. She then worked as a private duty nurse in Florida. Once an avid tennis player, she also enjoyed bicycling, walking the beach collecting shells and gardening. Survivors include her loving children, Sherry Mae Glanc of Bonita Springs, FL, Kathren (Agustin) Rodriguez of Valrico, FL, Michael S. (Debra) Sutherland and Linda A. Shuell of Oxford, MI; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home.
