Dr. Dale R. Neil DDS

Dr. Dale Neil, beloved Stowe dentist for over 40 years, passed away peacefully in Bonita Springs Florida on March 18, 2024. Dale was born in Buffalo, New York in 1942, graduated from Colgate University in 1960, and from the New York State College of Dentistry in 1964. On July 10, 1965 he married Katherine Kentzel in Buffalo, New York. From 1968 to 1970 Dale and his young family lived in Newport, Rhode Island where Dale served in the US Navy as a dentist for the US Naval War College. In 1970 Dale, Kandy and Kate moved to Stowe, Vermont, a town he loved and always called home. By 1971, when son, Eric, joined the family, Dale had founded the dental practice to which he became profoundly committed. Later in 1971 he founded the Vermont Society for Preventive Dentistry. Dale often said, ”I have always felt that I was treating friends rather than patients. That’s what made it so enjoyable”. He loved his dental clients, often providing care for those who would otherwise have been unable to receive it. He was always very grateful for the incredibly gifted and devoted dental team that supported him over the years. Dale’s overriding commitment to excellence was the hallmark of his personality and drove him to a leadership position in anything about which he felt passionate. This commitment was evidenced by the seven years spent on the Stowe school board. He also served as president of both the Stowe Rotary Club and Stowe Community Church. As a proud member of the Sport Commandos, Dale loved fishing, hunting, skiing, sailing, and golf with his friends and family. He was a gifted storyteller and enjoyed entertaining his fellow members of the Lake Mansfield Trout Club. Dale was a very passionate and devoted husband and father, lovingly and strongly supporting Kandy, Kate and Eric through every interest they pursued, through every challenge they faced. We were blessed to call him “Dad”. In 2015, during a trip to Israel, Dale committed his life to Christ as he was baptized in the Jordan River. Since then he has humbly served his Lord as a member of Grace Bible Church in Moscow, Vermont and First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, Florida. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Kandy, his son Eric, daughter Kate, and son-in-law Ken. A celebration of Dale‘s life will be held in Stowe, Vermont during this summer.
