Dorothy R. (Hickam) Easton, 81, of East Peoria, IL, and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Inspired Living in Bonita Springs, FL, with her children by her side. She was born June 2, 1939 in Pomona, IL, the daughter of the late Leonard and Anna (Toler) Hickam. She had been a winter resident of Bonita Springs since 1987. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, of 62 years and her sister Jean Brewster. She is survived by two daughters, Ranee (Scott) Reynolds of Westminster, CO and Christine (Randy) Gilmore of Estero, FL; a sister Barbara Bundy of Washington, IL and brother Phillip Hickam, of Keller, TX; 3 grandchildren, Ashley (Theodore) Cordova of Redondo Beach, CA, Mark Reynolds (Samantha) of Westminster, CO and Matthew Gilmore of Estero, FL and two great-granddaughters, Ella Cordova (CA) and Charlotte Reynolds (CO). Dorothy was an active member of both Roland Manor Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Estero. Her love for teaching children about Jesus was unmistakable as she taught Sunday school to preschool and elementary children most of her life. Dorothy was a skilled seamstress; from making clothes for those she loved to custom draperies for Sears. She also worked as an interior decorator for Sears. A talented cook and baker, her pies and cobblers were a favorite of everyone. She enjoyed long nature walks and cherished time with family and friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Roland Manor Baptist Church, 2433 Washington Rd., Washington, IL, 61571, with Pastor Steve Hardin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. A luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall following the service. Burial will be held following the luncheon in Spring Bay Cemetery, Spring Bay, IL.
