Edward Sikorski

Edward “Ed” Sikorski, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Ed came from humble beginnings as one of six children. From an early age, he was known for his intelligence, curiosity, and dry sense of humor. He earned an engineering degree from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and served his country as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Army Corps of Engineers within the U.S. Public Health Service. Ed met his wife, JoAnn, while she was working as a secretary. He charmed her into a first date, and together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and faith. They raised their family in Rockville Centre, Long Island, as members of Saint Agnes Parish, creating a home filled with warmth, friendship, and community. A gifted engineer and entrepreneur, Ed had a natural ability to solve problems. Whether fixing something around the house, designing a new idea, or finding a better way to do things, he approached challenges with patience and determination. He shared a special bond with his brother Henry, with whom he partnered in Sikorski Engineering and HCE Associates. Their partnership reflected not only shared success but also deep mutual respect and friendship. Ed loved golf and tennis and rarely turned down a challenge, whether physical or mental. While raising his family, he spent cherished time in the Poconos, especially within the Timber Trails and Lake Naomi communities, where he formed many lifelong friendships. In retirement, he and JoAnn made their home in Shadow Wood, Estero, Florida, where they built another circle of close friends and continued to live life to the fullest. They also traveled often, creating wonderful memories together along the way. He shared more than fifty-five years of marriage with his devoted wife, JoAnn, who was by his side through every joy and hardship. Together they raised three sons: Edward, Darren, and Jonathan. He welcomed his daughters-in-law, Nadiia, Tricia, and Kaya, into the family with love and pride. To his seven grandchildren, Maximus, Aleksandra, and Leo (children of Edward and Nadiia); Dalton and Connor (children of Darren and Tricia); and Logan and Marley (children of Jonathan and Kaya), he was affectionately known as GPS, short for Grandpa Sikorski. They adored him. He was happiest outdoors at the beach, the pool, kayaking, playing tennis, or on the golf course. Their fondest memories are of catching frogs with him, laughing at his jokes, and listening to his stories. Ed had a big heart. On the surface he could be tough and deliberate, but those who knew him best saw his kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity. He was always ready to lend a hand or offer guidance when it was needed most. He is remembered with love by his brother Henry and his sisters Catherine, Eleanor, and Arlene, as well as by many nieces and nephews who were dear to him. Ed will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, and steady presence, and for the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. He faced life’s challenges with clarity, courage, and grace, and he left the world a little better than he found it. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 28300 Beaumont Rd. Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
