Elaine "Faith" Cohan

Elaine “Faith” Cohan, 77, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on December 11, 2024, at Lee Memorial Health Park Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on May 5, 1947, Faith was the daughter of the late Richard and Edna Mae (Daus) O’Keefe. The 3rd of nine children, raised in Purchase, NY, she is survived by her 5 brothers, Richard, Timothy, Dennis, William, and Christopher O'Keefe. She is predeceased by her three sisters, Marianne O’Keefe Volpe, Evelyn O'Keefe, and Hope O'Keefe Giorno. Faith had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 1983 after living in Barrington, RI, for 7 years. Along with her former husband, George M. Cohan, III, they opened and operated George M’s Men’s Wear in Bonita Springs, which was the first upscale men's clothing store of its kind in the area. Their business served the community from 1984 until 2000. After retiring from the store, Faith worked for several successful local restaurants and, most recently, for the Commons Club at the Rookery. Faith felt that everyone there was like her “second family.” She was known for her dedicated hard work, warm hospitality, and a keen eye for detail. An avid decorator, Faith had a natural talent for design. She also loved thrifting, finding treasures, and turning them into something beautiful for her home. She enjoyed the hunt for a good deal, and the creativity that came with her finds. Her home was truly a reflection of her personality— welcoming, vibrant, and full of life. Faith’s family was at the center of her world. She is survived by her three children, George M. “Hap” Cohan, IV (Kathryn) of Louisville, KY, John E. Martin (Sarah) of White Plains, NY, and Laura Anne O’Keefe (Thomas) of Katonah, NY. She is also survived by her six beloved grandchildren: Quinn Cohan, Shea Cohan, Mia Rose O’Keefe, Jack Martin, Hudson Martin, and Jet Martin. A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Faith’s memory. Faith will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, and unwavering love for her family.
