Gregory Scott Schantz

Gregory Scott Schantz, 71, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2026, at NCH North Hospital after suffering a medical event while doing what he loved most—Jet Skiing. Born on March 13, 1955, in Grove City, Pennsylvania, Greg was the son of the late John R. Schantz and Emily J. (Fritz) Schantz. He spent his early years in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, before moving to Bonita Springs in 1978, where he made his home for nearly five decades. Greg was a graduate of Ohio University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Throughout his career, he spent many years in the glass industry, specializing in the sales of windows and sliding glass doors. Known for his outgoing personality and strong work ethic, he built lasting relationships with both colleagues and customers. He was a proud member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Greg enjoyed an active lifestyle and found great joy in spending time on the water, especially Jet Skiing, which remained one of his favorite pastimes throughout his life. Greg will be remembered most for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, and his ability to make friends wherever he went. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Lyn Schantz of Bonita Springs, Florida; his two sons, Michael A. Ciaffone and his wife, Zarah, of Fort Myers, Florida, and David Allan Ciaffone of Bonita Springs, Florida; his four brothers, John Steven Schantz (Susan) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Richard Eric Schantz (Theresa) of Auburn, Ohio, David Lee Schantz (Holly) of Bainbridge, Ohio, and Thomas Mark Schantz (Susan) of Bonita Springs, Florida; and his three cherished grandchildren, William John Ciaffone, Oliver Henry Ciaffone, and Asher James Ciaffone. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. A Memorial Service celebrating Greg's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs, Florida, with Pastor Russ Winn officiating.
