Helen Mahoney Chinigo

Helen Mahoney Chinigo passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017 surrounded by her family. Helen was born to the late Jeremiah and Carrie (Ladd) Mahoney on March 25, 1925 in Norwich, CT. She was predeceased by her loving husband Constantino, February 17, 2012 after 67 years of marriage. Helen will be dearly missed by her children, son and daughter-in law Paul and Cathy Chinigo of Norwich, CT, daughter Cynthia Gregory, Bonita Springs, FL and son-in law and daughter, Stefen and Ann Brueckner of Naples, FL. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Michael Chinigo, Louisville, KY, Meghan (Gregory) Seitz and her husband Andy, Cincinnati, OH, Sarah (Gregory) Kratochvil and her husband James , Chicago, IL and Melanie Chinigo, Groton, CT, and two joyful great grandchildren, Margaret Constance and John Stefen Seitz, ages five and three. She is survived by her brother Harold Mahoney (Alice) and predeceased by her brother Jeremiah Mahoney (Elsie), and sisters Rebecca Mahoney, Catherine Mathews (William) and Sadie Matthews (Henry). Helen graduated from Norwich Free Academy, Class of 1942 and worked in the medical field for 43 years before retiring with “Connie” to FL. Her ancestors served in the Revolutionary War and were founders of Norwich, CT (Thomas Adgate) and Providence, RI (John Steere). A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who enjoyed every minute spent with her family, her dear friends from Norwich and her new, dear to her heart friends at Aston Gardens in Naples FL. Helen had a smile and a generous spirit that that enabled her to extend kindness to all as she lived every day of her life with deep faith and shared her joy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Ave. No., Naples, FL 34108. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360 –Stained Glass Restoration Project or Saint John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, Build our Future Serve our Past Capital Campaign, 625 111th Avenue, Naples, FL 34108. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
