Hisako Giustiniani

Hisako Giustiniani, 84, of Naples, FL, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. She had been a Naples resident since 1967. She was born November 26, 1932 in Kobe Shi, Japan, the daughter of Kohei Fujita and Sadako Fukuda. She was raised near Kohei, Japan and she survived the massive air raids that led to the surrender of Japan and the end of World War II. She lost two brothers during the war, but she and the rest of her family persevered. After the War and the American Occupation, she met and married Lawrence Giustiniani. After the birth of their first son, Victor, she chose to leave everything behind to begin a new life in America. The couple eventually settled in Naples, FL in 1967 and soon after she gave birth to her second son, Edward. Like her mother, she worked and raised her children alone after the untimely death of her husband in 1975. Her life was focused on her sons, her family and friends. Her goal was to give her sons every opportunity to pursue their education, to travel and live their lives to the fullest. After her retirement from the Collier County Public Library in 1992, she enjoyed the company of her friends, good food and traveling. A two-time cancer survivor, she had a history of meeting and overcoming obstacles throughout her life. She was a fearless optimist and this positive outlook and determination often carried her through the most difficult of times. She was especially grateful to her pets, Hatchi and Hana for their constant companionship during her recoveries. She enjoyed life tremendously and lived it to the fullest. Her kindness and generosity were appreciated by all who knew her. She will truly be missed. Mrs. Giustiniani is survived by her sons, Victor K. Giustiniani of Tampa, FL and Edward C. Giustiniani of Las Vegas, NV; her brother and sister, Kiyoshi Fujita and Miyoko Okamoto, both of Japan; and her cherished dog, Hana. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence Giustiniani in 1975. A Celebration of Life Service for family and friends will take place Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to any animal charities. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
