Joan D. Plesh, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 85 on September 27, 2021 at her home in Bonita Springs, FL surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Lakewood, OH to Walter and Veronica Hamilton on July 17, 1936. Joan met her husband of 61 years, Jim, in Rocky River Falls, OH. Together, they built a beautiful family, of 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, residing for fifty years in Medfield, MA. Joan is survived by her loving husband, James (Jim) A. Plesh, her children, Gregg Plesh, Scott Plesh, Dawn Young-McCaffrey (Mark McCaffrey), and Doug Plesh (Mari Plesh), her siblings, Walter Hamilton Jr. (Sharon Hamilton), Richard Hamilton (late Elaine Hamilton), and Linda Freedman (Mark Freedman), her grandchildren, Nicole Plesh, Michael Plesh, James Young, Kortni Plesh, Cody Young, Sarah Plesh, Abigale Raymond, Scott Plesh, Lucas Plesh, Drew Plesh and Christian Plesh, and her great grandchildren, Rita DeSouza, Anthony DeSouza, Logan Forrestal, Zoey Plesh and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Veronica Hamilton and her son Kirk Plesh. Joan cherished her friendships and the love of her family. An athletic woman, she was a basketball star in her youth and in her senior years enjoyed bocce with her friends. She was a proud and devout Catholic who attended church every Sunday at St. Leo’s in Bonita Springs, FL. Her generosity touched many across the world through regular charitable contributions to organizations near and dear to her heart. Joan’s wit and humor will be missed by all who knew her. She was an amazing cook and loved to host friends and family for parties and reunions. Although Jim was the artist of the family, Joan was fondly known as his “Art Director” often giving him critiques and suggestions on his numerous paintings. Joan had a heart of gold; she cared about and loved everyone. Though she will be missed, her impact will continue to reach others for many years to come through the people whose lives she touched. Family and friends will gather together to remember an amazing woman on Friday, October 1, 2 - 4 PM and 5 - 7 PM at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 South Tamiami Trail, Bonita Springs, FL 34134. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 2, at 10 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Bonita Springs, followed by a celebration of Joan's life at the Bonita Bay Country Club.
