Louise Marie Fosberg

Louise M. (Lamontagne) (Gaudet) Fosberg, 73, of Estero, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in the comfort of her home with her loving husband, Rick Fosberg by her bedside. Born July 17, 1943 in Holyoke, MA and raised in Easthampton, MA to her late parents, Ernest O. Lamontagne and Leona M. (Gosselin) Lamontagne. In her early years, Louise received her X-Ray Technician license from Cooley Dickenson and practiced for a short time before she married and started her family. She raised 4 daughters (3 dogs & pony) in Ashby, MA while teaching Biology at the North Middlesex Regional High School. During this time, she continued her education at Fitchburg State College earning her Master’s Degree & PhD. Once her daughters were off to college, her love for the ocean brought her to Newburyport, MA where she resided for over 15 years. After retiring from teaching, she returned to her first career as an X-Ray technician at Mass General, where she worked for 17 years. Louise had a love of travel and seeing the world. She made it a priority to travel to various parts of the globe, yet you often could find her in Nantucket around her birthday each year, a place she adored. In August 2004, she married her husband, Rick Fosberg and was able to fully retire and enjoy her remaining years with him. They traveled to Hawaii and Tahiti, but mostly found themselves enjoying the Florida lifestyle where they had built a home in Estero. For several years, they had dual residency in Newburyport, MA and Estero, FL, but ultimately decided to make FL their permanent address in 2014. They were active members of the Belle Lago community where they enjoyed various activities with their friends. Louise had a love for the outdoors, especially the ocean. Regardless of the water temperature, she would find herself swimming around even when no one else dared to enter. If the sun were shining, you would find her outside enjoying it. Her energy was boundless! She remained active in her daily routine with walks, bike rides, rounds of golf & tennis or you might find her at the clubhouse playing Mahjong for countless hours with friends. She was surrounded by loyal friends that she made over her lifetime. Her love of life and time with family or friends meant everything to her. Her energy & spirit will be greatly missed. Louise leaves behind her beloved husband, Rick Fosberg, her 4 daughters and their spouses; Michele Gaudet-Smith & Charles Smith of Pepperell, MA, Michaelene (Gaudet) & Bruce Koskela of Nashua, NH, Nicole (Gaudet) & Donald Foster of Rye, NH and Tonya (Gaudet) & Peter Benstock of Tampa, FL, her 4 grandchildren; Marissa & Carson Smith, Bryce Foster and Brooke Koskela; and a stepson, David Fosberg and his 2 daughters, Sharon and Gwynne Fosberg. A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Light in Estero, FL on May 26, 2017 at 10:30am. Immediately following will be a Celebration of her Life at the Belle Lago Community Center in Estero. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
