Nancy R. Walls

Nancy Ruth Fiala Walls was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 15, 1955. She lived in Bellevue, Nebraska and went to grade school across the street from her house at Central Elementary School in Bellevue, Nebraska. Later, she went to Mission Junior High School and to Bellevue Senior High School (there was only one high school in Bellevue at the time) and graduated with the Class of 1973. Nancy met Kevin Walls backstage at a High School German Club production of a Christmas program. They started going to Burger King after practices. Nancy tricked Kevin into asking her to Kevin’s senior prom by telling his parents in front of Kevin that prom was not on the radar. Kevin graduated in 1972 and went to the University of Oregon. Nancy and Kevin maintained a long-distance relationship for the next year, so Kevin asked Nancy for her hand in marriage. Nancy became Mrs. Kevin Walls on July 6, 1974, in Bellevue, Nebraska and moved to Eugene, Oregon. Kevin and Nancy moved to Oregon for a couple of years but then moved back to Nebraska in 1976. In 1979, they had their wonderful daughter Brigitte. Brigitte and Nancy were inseparable. Nancy followed Brigitte through softball, soccer, track and, of course, basketball, chasing her games across the country. Nancy gave up secondary school to allow Kevin to move forward in his career. However, once Brigitte went to college, she also returned to college and earned her Associate Degree. Nancy worked many jobs over the years keeping the family afloat and following Kevin from location to location. She worked on many types of jobs including financial management and working for the Domestic Abuse and Rape Crisis Center. She was working for Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ when she was approach by Richard Ullman to come and take care of his newly purchased 80-acre property. Nancy did this on the side for a while, but eventually did it full time. She did everything at the property including weekly mowing of about 40 acres of grass, worked a backhoe like a professional, shoveling dramatic snowfalls. and even felled 80 full size trees in one day. Kevin did some outside architectural work for Richard Ullman. But Nancy managed Richard as much as Richard managed her. Eventually, Richard asked Kevin to come work for him full time. Richard immediately brought Nancy on as his Executive Assistant. After Richard passed away, both Kevin and Nancy worked for Ken Ullman, Richard’s son, having known him since he graduated from high school. Nancy and Kevin retired from the Ullmans in August 2025. While still furthering her career, Nancy started working with the Collier-Lee Honor Flight program making six trips as a Guardian taking veterans to Washington DC. After that, she started running the Honor-At-Home program for veterans that could not make the flight to Washington DC. In November of 2025, Nancy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic and Liver cancer. She was ready to fight it and went through twelve stage aggressive chemotherapy sessions. Even with the doctors surprised anyone could go through that many aggressive sessions, Nancy started to deteriorate. Nancy passed from this earth on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 2:30 pm. Accepting the facts, she knew she was going to be with the Lord and was ready for it. Before Nancy passed from this earth, she made us make several promises: □ Kevin has to take care of Snuggles, our mini poodle. □ The whole family is directed to keep the family together. □ The family is to continue having Family Sunday dinners together. □ Brigitte is to make sure that Kevin plays a lot of golf. Nancy smiled when she knew she was going to be able to meet Richard Ullman again in heaven. The only thing we all can hope for is that, when the two of them get together again, they don’t completely rework heaven. Nancy Ruth Fiala Walls is survived by her husband Kevin Walls and their puppy Snuggles, their daughter Brigitte and her husband Dan Thompson and their grandson Kaiden Thompson, Nancy’s family of Kathy Grogan, Mike Fiala and Mark Fiala, and Kevin’s family of Keith Walls and Kurt Walls.
