Philip A. Greco

On Saturday, April 17, 2021, Philip Greco, loving husband and father, passed peacefully from this life. Born November 25, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Carmella & Anthony Greco, Philip was the youngest of his siblings, Anthony, Marianne, and Virginia. He graduated from Quincy College in 1973, earning a degree in Business. Five years later, he married his beloved wife, Susan, and they moved to the Chicago suburbs. There they were blessed with the birth of their child, Gina, and spent several years in Naperville, Illinois before moving to Novi, Michigan where he continued his thirty-five-year employment with Ford Motor Company. While his job required travel throughout the United States, it also afforded the opportunity to visit historic sites and attend major events, such as the Winter Olympics during his stay in Salt Lake City, Utah. His time at home was often spent pursuing one of his passions: Gardening, Sports and Music. In 2014, Phil and Susan fulfilled their lifelong dream of retirement in a warm climate when they moved to the Bonita Lakes community in Bonita Springs, Florida. His love for gardening flourished as he poured himself into the study of tropical plants and flowers. He became part of the neighborhood landscape committee, and was an active member of the Naples Orchid Society. Phil was an avid sports fan. A member of the Spanish Wells Country Club, Phil loved golfing but most enjoyed the time it gave him to be with his friends. Earlier in life, he had been a member of several bowling leagues, and was well respected by his teammates for his skill, and the time he bowled a 300 game! A devoted fan of professional sports, Phil was a season ticket holder for the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings and Michigan Wolverines. In 1986, he was thrilled to be in New Orleans to see the Chicago Bears win the Super Bowl, and in 2016, celebrate when the Chicago Cubs won a World Series (finally!). Phil loved listening to rock music and attending concerts. He had the opportunity to see many groups he most admired, including Elvis Presley, Simon & Garfunkel, Elton John, Pink Martini and The Rolling Stones, among others. And, he knew most of the words to all of their songs! Fun Fact: Phil was a rollercoaster and ride enthusiast who took his family and friends on all of the rides at Cedar Point, Disney World and Universal Studios. Phil was truly a fun guy who wanted everyone to enjoy life’s amusements with him. He is survived by his wife, Susan, daughter, Gina, his sister Virginia, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 24th, 2021 at Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church located at 28290 Beaumont Road, Bonita Springs, Florida at 10 o’clock in the morning.
