Robert B. Partlow III

Robert B. Partlow, III, 79, of Estero, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, at his residence with his beloved wife, Carol, by his side. Robert was born on August 26, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of the late Robert B. and Thelma L. (née Andrews) Partlow, Jr. He had been a resident of Estero for the past 26 years, coming from Rutland, Vermont. Robert was a graduate of Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. His commitment to continuing education and professional development remained a hallmark of his career. He attended the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Motel Association, earning his Certified Hotel Administrator designation, and Holiday Inn University, where he earned his General Manager certification. Throughout his career, he also completed numerous Holiday Inn training seminars and annual recertification programs. Before beginning his career in the hotel industry, Robert held a variety of positions in food service. Starting as a dishwasher during his college years, he worked his way through positions as a cook, chef, and kitchen manager. These early experiences provided a strong foundation for what would become a distinguished career of nearly 50 years in the hospitality industry, primarily with Holiday Inn. From 1974 until 1980, Robert served as Food and Beverage Director and Assistant Innkeeper at the Holiday Inn in Rutland, Vermont. In 1980, he became General Manager of the Holiday Inn Centre of Vermont in Rutland, a position he held until 1999. After relocating to Southwest Florida, he continued his career with Holiday Inn, serving as Assistant General Manager at the Holiday Inn in Naples. Throughout his professional career, Robert was actively involved in numerous civic, business, and community organizations. His memberships included the Rutland Area Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Lodging and Restaurant Association, Lions Club, where he formerly served as Vice President, United Way, and the Rutland Restaurant Association, where he served as a past president. He was also involved with the Annual Taste of Vermont and other organizations that supported and promoted the hospitality industry and the greater Rutland community. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carol Lynn Partlow of Estero, FL; his two sons, Robert B. Partlow, IV of Saratoga Springs, NY, and Christopher L. Partlow and his wife, Michelle, of Saratoga Springs, NY; and his five grandchildren, Kaelynn Partlow, Kassie Partlow, Virginia Partlow, Margaret Partlow, and Christopher T. Partlow. He is also survived by his brother, Geoff Partlow and his wife, Sarah, of Hilton Head Island, SC; his niece, Sarah Rastofer and her husband, John; and his nephews, Geoffrey G. Partlow and his wife, Cindy, and Ben Partlow and his wife, Stephanie. A memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life is being planned for September 26 and will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
