Ronald K. Marks

Ronald K. Marks, 80, of Estero Florida passed away on June 15, 2022 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice. He was born in Evanston, Illinois a son of the late C. Clifford Marks and Hazel Eckert Marks. Loving husband of Patricia for 52 years, father of Brian (Jennifer) of Westborough MA and Erin (Travis) Tiedeman of Wisconsin Dells, and grandfather to Travis, Lucius, Jacob and Jonah. Brother of Gary (Lynn) Marks of Phoenix Arizona. Step brother of Barry Rietz and Robert Rietz. Brother in-law of Frances Ruhl, Kathleen Arvia and Susan Zabinski. Ron grew up in Mount Prospect, Illinois. He received his bachelors in Biology and Master’s in Geology from Northern Illinois University and continued taking science classes for many years. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and a teaching assistant at NIU’s field campus. Ron taught environmental science, biology and earth science at Crystal Lake Community High School in Illinois for 35 years and was also the varsity golf coach for 26 years and a member of the Illinois Coaches Hall of Fame. He was president of his neighborhood association in Illinois and on the Board of Directors for his association in Wisconsin. Ron loved his 19 years at Villages of Country Creek and was a member of the men’s golf league and the Bocce Bandits. He was a friendly, kind person, who loved talking with his golf friends and his bocce teammates. In his heyday, he was a great golfer, an avid bridge player, and a good bocce player. Ron enjoyed spending his summers in Wisconsin Dells, where he walked down to see his grandkids every evening and enjoyed the beautiful natural sites in the Dells, identifying every wildflower, bird, and geological formation he saw. For many years he served as naturalist and gave golf clinics at Christmas Mountain Village, and played golf any time he could. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at Country Creek and Wisconsin Dells at later date.
