Sharon R. Lowry

Sharon R. Lowry, 69, of Estero, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. Born on April 16, 1955, in Washington, Pennsylvania, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late Russell and Louise (née Dorsey) Pollock. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a kind-hearted friend to many. Sharon met the love of her life, James D. Lowry, in Pittsburgh on a blind date while he was attending Washington and Jefferson College. They were married on May 21, 1977, and began their life together in Oklahoma before settling in the Chicago area, where they spent the majority of their 48-year marriage. Their journey also took them to the Atlanta area for five years before returning to Naperville, Illinois, and eventually retiring to Estero, Florida, in 2013. As a young wife and mother, Sharon dedicated herself to raising her children and caring for others as a trusted caretaker for neighborhood families. She later worked for 15 years as a medical records clerk for a local physician in the Chicago area. In retirement, she found joy in giving back to her community through volunteer work at nursing homes and treasured her time spent with family. Sharon had a passion for flowers and crafts and took special pride in creating ceramic dolls and caring for her flower pots and gardens. She was an active member of the Estero Country Club and will be remembered for her creativity, warmth, and generous spirit. She was fun loving, upbeat and sarcastic all at the same time. She could bring a group to laughter with her jokes, one liners and zingers. She would be self-deprecating and make fun of her own shortcomings and yours as well, all in the spirit of friendship. She would give you a silly smile and laugh out loud. Even thru her cancer battles over the last several years, her humor shined through to all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband, James D. Lowry of Estero, FL; her son, Christopher M. Lowry (Christine) of St. Petersburg, FL; her daughter, Autumn L. Sanelli (Tony) of Golden, CO; and her beloved grandchildren, Connor Lowry, Callie Lowry, and Bryce Sanelli. A Celebration of Life will be held for Sharon on April 26th at 3:00 at the Estero Country Club. Please contact the family if you plan on attending.
